Disability Mentoring Day is an international event hosted by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) in collaboration with the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). Disability Mentoring Day is held on the third Wednesday of the month of October, which is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day was first held in 2001. For the first two years, this event was hosted by Enable. Jeffrey Tamburo, Program Coordinator of Employment Services at Enable, has been the Local Coordinator of Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day since its inception.

Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day has grown to become a community-wide event. In 2003, Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day was expanded to include other community agencies. Participation by provider agencies, employers and mentees continues to increase, due to the efforts of the Greater Syracuse Disability Mentoring Day Organizing Committee.
